Writers Tips

Writers tips is a course that answers questions that you may not even know that you had about writing and editing your book. It is designed to make writing your book easier and stress free. My objective is to provide you with practical help which you would expect from a book coach. I want to help you to be more productive, using tools you already own. To start and keep writing, learn to love editing, how to engage better with your reader and get that book finished.

How does it work?

I have collated questions from my writing students and put together a series of answers to those questions. These are in the course, grouped together by subject area.

  • Be more productive
  • How to be a better editor and learn to love editing
  • How to connect and engage with your reader

08:15
Using tools like navigation, ruler, table of contents and the outline to get a feel for structure and flow.
07:16
Having a structure to write to really helps create a good flow in our writing.  I like to start my chapters with a question or questions that I intend to answer. Followed by sections what, why, how and what if.

We usually start with such good intention and end up going off track.  This module looks at how you can use that structure to bring the flow back and to check that you are answering that chapters question(s).
07:49
In this module, we look at simple things like spelling and the thesaurus
06:19
Reminder to put your personal stories in to each chapter and to remember that they need to be in context and for you to close the loop, i.e. if you start a story remember to end it.

And if you are putting exercises together, test, test, your steps.
08:03
How to create a table as an image and using consistent referencing
Using a screen reader to help you proof your book

04:43
Getting a copy of your 'real' book in your hands is not only a great feeling, it gives you an opportunity to read your book as a reader would. You will really get to grips with how you want the finished product to look like once you do this.

Despite the cost, this is a brilliant way to proof your book and get it right.
Section 4: What's next

Instructor Biography

Jacqui Malpass, Author, book coach and personal brand strategist

I adore working with inspirational, enthusiastic, energetic people with strong messages. People who want to make a difference. I would love to become part of your onward journey, the one that sees you finding your voice, writing an amazing book, becoming the best version of you and rocking that out to the world.

My passion is helping you to discover the book inside of you, and help you to be come a published author, so that you can leave your legacy, heal, share your inspirational message, have fun, and build a personal brand that really rocks.

So, you want to write a book and turn it into a course...

I am an expert at getting your story out, and really finding the essence of what you want to say. And then saying it so that it is engaging and makes someone want to pick up and read your book.

I will take you from idea (or no idea) to outline, from planning it out to make writing easier, first draft to really enabling you to engage with your reader, and helping you to create something bigger than your book. My book 'Plan Your Non Fiction Book in a Weekend', really helps writers to find their idea and get it planned so that writing and publishing becomes easy.

For those people who are stuck with their personal story, my book 'Writing to Heal' helps you to transform through writing, we go on a journey from journaling, reflecting and on into creative life writing.

I used my book Stolen Petals which is a healing memoir as inspiration for supporting others to write memoirs.

I have a background in professional training and personal branding and I additionally combine these skills to teach you how to turn your book into a course and how to build your personal brand.

Healer

Not only do I believe that words heal, I am also very passionate about health and well being. I am a crystal healer, Reiki practitioner, NLP practitioner and fascinated by food as a source of supporting our lives.

So who am I?

I have been described in many ways - enthusiastic, high energy, inspirational, motivation and fun. I have also been described as beautifully eccentric, which I do indeed take as a compliment. What you get is what you see. What I want for you, is to own who you are and to share your gifts with the world.

For as long as I can remember stories have been inspiring me. I no longer play out my stories in the garden being both the princess and the warrior.

These days you can find me listening to your stories and working out how I can help you to discover the part you want to play in the success of your life and business.

Please connect with me for:-

  • Book coaching and mentoring (non-fiction & memoir)
  • Writing retreats

In between drinking peppermint or Earl Grey tea, eating raw chocolate goodies and walking the the loves of my life - Ferdy dog, Marley Moo & Angel, I can be found writing non fiction and soon my first children's book. And I do a bit of abstract arty stuff with wire and wool.
