About me
I am passionate about learning and know that education is emancipatory - it improves people's life chances and leads to fulfilment - learning is power.
I have been a Head of Department in three schools, a Senior Strategic Leader and a Teaching and Learning Consultant for a local city council.
My lessons are graded ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted and school leaders. One of my lessons was listed as an exemplar for the school Ofsted report and is available online - Challenge College, 2003. In pupil surveys my lessons are rated excellent.
In a survey pupils in my class were asked how the department could improve. They said that other teachers should watch me teaching.
I have an excellent understanding of how pupils learn effectively and I have a range of strategies and resources I can use.
My work develops long term thinking and learning skills. I have marked KS3 SAT exams (1998-2001), GCSE Science exams (2002) and A-level Physics exams (2006 – present). This experience is extremely valuable in preparing students for exams.
I am currently working in a school in Yorkshire and am developing online resources for independent learners. I am also a fully qualified Alexander Technique Teacher having been practising the Technique since 2010.
