Nyle Sexton, D.W.S. Adjunct Professor of Contemporary Christian Worship, Houston Graduate School of Theology
Dr. Sexton is the instructor of Contemporary Christian Worship at HGST.In addition, he continues to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Arts at Indiana Wesleyan University where he teaches a comprehensive online course in fine arts that includes art, music and architecture from Antiquity through the Postmodern eras. He is an experienced educator and has been teaching courses in music and worship since 1994.
Dr. Sexton earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the Ohio State University and both the Master of Worship Studies and Doctor of Worship Studies degrees from The Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, in Orange Park Florida.He has served in various capacities within the church throughout his career including Worship Pastor, Associate Pastor, Adult Education Director, Technology Director, Choir Director, Small Groups Pastor, Chaplain, etc.
Dr. Sexton is an accomplished bassist and has performed in numerous venues and with many notable artists including Steve Green, Babbie Mason, Thom Schumate, Carter Threlkeld, as well as others.His credits also include serving as the house bassist for Theater Memphis in Memphis, TN and performing with numerous rock, R&B, contemporary and Christian groups for the past thirty years.He has served as musical director for productions of Grease, Pippin, Fame, and West Side Story and he continues to enjoy playing the bass as well as guitar and piano as time permits.
