English [Auto] Hot yoga Deepika when we're talking about transitioning to the role of the ancient sages and we're talking about like the category that's the center of that bell curve of what most of the perception of yoga is in our world today. The hot yoga approach Deepika is one of the most if not the most of the profound tasks to take a look at. This is one translation and commentary of the heart to yoga. Deepika it's by Swami Mukti boda Nanda Saraswathi under the guidance of Swami Sachin Nanda Saraswati there of the Bihar school of yoga in India. I want to point out to very simply the first thing I want to point out to you is that this text has four chapters in it and just noting the name of chapter four alone that symp that one simple thing tells you a lot about the subtler deeper traditional meaning of yoga. The title of that chapter is somebody samadhi the highest state of consciousness. This is not merely a book about postures postures or in their mudras are in their positions or in their There's a tremendous amount of practice as outlined in this text. But the last chapter is not about those parts those are preliminary. The last chapter is about samadhi. And so if we were to look at nothing else other than just chapter titles here this will tell you something about the traditional value of hante yoga. Now I want to read some things to you from the introduction. And it's beautifully written and and it says a lot about our current situation. I don't know what was the year that they published this. This was first published in 1985 and this was around the time I made modern yoga had been happening for some time. But since 1985 that's now what's up with that from now if I'm that's 30 years ago. And so that's 30 years ago. And in the last 30 years ago changes have got me even more so. But listen to this I hope you don't mind me just reading this too. It's a big book so I'm just reading a little part of it actually just as it takes a couple of minutes. You might feel like a lot but it's really just take this journey with me. I think you're going to like it in order to purify the mind. It is necessary for the body as a whole to undergo a process of absolute purification. Hot yoga is also known as the science of purification not just one type of purification but six types. Then it goes into those. We don't have to look at that in detail. We consider hot yoga as the preliminary practice of tantra. Raja Yoga Kundalini Yoga and kriya yoga. When the Ritchies the ancient sages discovered the science of hearty yoga they did not have yoga therapy in mind although yoga has proved to be very effective in the treatment of many impossible and incurable diseases. The therapeutic effect of yoga is only a byproduct and incidental. The main objective of hot yoga is to create an absolute balance of the interacting activities and processes of the physical body mind and energy. When this balance is created the impulses generated give a call of awakening to the central force parentheses. So Shona Noddy which is responsible for the evolution of human consciousness. Listen to this sentence. If hot yoga is not used for this purpose its true objective is lost pretty clearly stated isn't it I find this touching. I think you can tell that there's the last part of this introduction then this is titled The real purpose of hot yoga. Now remember this was written 30 years ago in the last 40 years. Hot yoga has been accepted as a therapeutic science all over the world and many scientific studies have been conducted in this field. Today we teach hot yoga to the people because it is very necessary. Man has become sick and medical science is not able to meet the challenge. Hot yoga however has been helping everybody. So we do not want to discourage this aspect. But at the same time we should not forget what hot yoga really stands for. Behind every sick man there is a spiritual man behind a diabetic. There is a yogi behind a man suffering from depression. There is an aspirant when a patient comes for help teach him yoga and make him better treat his sickness but do not stop there. Take him further into the spiritual domain of life. This is the mistake that most yoga teachers make in the West. They just take a patient with arthritis rheumatism or insomnia. Teach him a few exercises and that is it. Hot yoga has not been used to treat the total personality. This is why the teachers are not able to raise the level of their pupils just to improve the physical health is not enough. The mental health must also improve the nature must change the personality must change the psychological and the psychic framework also has to change. You should not merely feel freedom from disease but freedom from bondage and from the air and from the vagaries of the mind. Now the time has come when the teachers in every part of the world must understand and transmit the true spirit of hot yoga pretty good stuff isn't it. That kind. To me kind of says it all so you gotta dig in to the heart to yoga or Deepika. Don't just buy this book and put it on the shelf and let it collect dust or get old and yellowed and be thrown away. Some years from now. Tremendous tremendous stuff. A very important text. Hot yoga. Deepika. OK. I hope it touches you as deeply as it touches me. It's good stuff this stuff that we're talking about the yoga of the ancient sages. It is not in opposition to where we are with with hot Tioga modern yoga modern yoga has said there is kind of moved away a little bit but that is very rich he said. Is it not. We're not saying go to the over the edge sages and throw this stuff away. No no no. Do what the suggestions there were in the introduction of this text. Make it more. Start there and then carry it further. We do it ourselves and then by doing it ourselves and practicing over a long period of time more and more we are able to share it with others. That's what we're trying to do together and going through these presentations. Hot yoga. Ago a very very significant traditional tax. OK.
