  2. Understanding the anatomy of your Personal Brand
  3. What people say about you when you are not there?
  4. Getting to grips with your Stakeholders and causing the effects you desire
  5. How to specialise and differentiate yourself
  6. How you are actually perceived by others
  7. How to manage change and transformation

Module 2 - Leadership Brand

Here in Module 2 we build on what you have learned and explore developing your Leadership Brand for greater success. We have also included Module 3 on building Team Brand and Module 4 in building a powerful Corporate Leadership Brand for your organisation.

Are you ready to raise your visibility, to have the impact you need as a leader and to have a powerful presence in business? If so, it's time to build your Leadership Brand.

This is for you if you are a leader at any level, are managing a team or if you are an entrepreneur or business owner.

The incredible benefits in building your Leadership Brand are:

  • You instantly raise your credibility with all of your stakeholders. You become conscious of delivering value consistently through your actions and behaviours. And this allows others to trust you, what you do and to follow you as a leader. And trust is so very important.
  • You get to understand the nuances of leadership, where you naturally lead from and why others follow you. This is all about self-mastery - knowing yourself better as a leader and making conscious and constructive choices going forward.
  • You discover the benefits of Ouside-In vs Inside Out leadership - when you know yourself incredibly well, you can start to focus on delivering value to others in a powerful way, building your reputation and demand.
  • You will really get the benefits of keeping curiosity as a powerful context. This gives you the opportunity to gain perspective from a neutral position in any situation and to make more informed choices.
  • You will explore the power of building diverse teams for greater success and how to co-create dynamic team values - the glue that binds teams together and delivers elevated results.
  • You will get to explore how your team impacts on all stakeholders; the value in creating a powerful culture and you will discover how your team is perceived or their reputation. Vital if you are going to make headway as a leader.
  • You will gain insight into how happy your team are and the impact this has on productivity, engagement and your bottom line.
  • You will also have the opportunity to explore how all of this fits into the bigger picture of building a Corporate Leadership Brand - the magic trilogy, which brings together your brand promise, your client experience and your people's actions and behaviours. Once you get this, you are on your way to building a powerful model for yourself as a leader, your people and your organisation.

Section 1: Module 2 - Leadership Brand
07:57
This lecture is 8 minutes in Duration.  Here we explore:

  1. What is leadership?
  2. Why do others follow you?
  3. Your leadership brand touch-points

Please have a look at the supplementary materials before you begin and answer the Quizzes once you are done.

1 question

This diagram illustrates the five core principles of leadership, adapted from RBL Groups’ The Leadership Code.  At the core of this is how you go about doing what you do - or your Leadership Brand.  We all naturally tend to lead with one of the four segments - especially in times of stress or conflict.

02:54
This lecture is 3 minutes in duration.  Here we add another layer to Inside-Out vs Outside-In thinking.

Please have a look at the supplementary materials before you start and complete the Quizzes once you are done.

Please NOTE:  You will find a reference to login to www.thewildcard.me/login in this video.  There is no need to login as we have loaded all of the supplementary materials here and in the Quizzes.
1 question

If you haven't already, you might want to read an article I wrote on this topic here: Conscious Leadership: Inside-Out vs Outside-In.

Coming at things from a place of deep curiosity allows for a broader perspective and understanding of all stakeholders in any given situation.

Seth Godin gives us his take on the Importance of Curiosity on Behind the Brand and Rory Sutherland talks about 'Perspective is everything'.

Section 2: Module 3 - Team Brand
05:41
This lecture is almost 6 minutes in duration.  Here we explore:

  1. The power in building diverse teams
  2. Team Values
  3. Using the Ladder of Cause and Effect with your team(s)

Please have a look at the supplementary materials before you begin and answer the Quizzes once you are done.

1 question

Where do you differ?  What unique skills and strengths do each member of your team bring to the table?  A great resource here is Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie - Great Leaders, Teams and Why People Follow.

You might want to do an analysis of your teams diverse skills and strengths.  Often we overlook others unique talents as they are beyond or outside the job description.  How can you use this diversity to strengthen your team and to empower each individual so that they too are truly motivated at work?

And if you are lacking diversity in your team, what skills do you need to bring on board?

1 question

What are your teams core values?  Use the exercise you did in Module 1 (building your Personal Brand) where you sent yourself off to a desert island.  Only this time you are all going together as a team and need to accommodate each others’ choices.  Once you have a clear idea of your team values, use these to create a values statement and use your findings to uphold each and every member of the team.

1 question

This is very powerful model in a team environment as you create a common language.  You uphold yourself and one another to take responsibility for what you want and to then put it into action.  Can you imagine what you can achieve if this is the foundation of your team values?  Once you have introduced this model to your team, keep a note of any changes you and the team are experiencing.

05:51

This lecture is just under 6 minutes in duration.  Here we explore:

  1. Getting to grips with your Teams' Stakeholders
  2. Your team Culture
  3. Difficult conversations and open communication

Please have a look at the supplementary materials before you start and complete the Quizzes once you are done.

Please NOTE:  You will find a reference to login to www.thewildcard.me/login in this video.  There is no need to login as we have loaded all of the supplementary materials here and in the Quizzes.

1 question

Who and what are your teams’ target markets / audience?  These are all of the stakeholders your team needs to work with today and going forward.  Identify each stakeholder and what it is they want from a team like yours.  Make a note of this and ask yourself what your team could be doing better to satisfy your stakeholders needs better.

Once you are clear on this, go into action of making this happen and notice any changes with regards to how your team is perceived.

1 question

You might want to make a note of your thoughts on the following questions.  Ask the rest of your team to do the same and then use your findings to explore:

  • Describe your team culture?
  • Do you have social time together?
  • Does everyone in the team have a voice?
  • What are your cultural strengths and areas that could improve?
  • What actions can you take to better these, when will you take them and how can you measure the outcome?
04:38
This lecture is just over 4.5 minutes in duration.  Here we explore:

  1. How your team is perceived with all of your Stakeholders
  2. Is your team 'Happy at Work'?
  3. Creating a Team Brand Statement

Please have a look at the supplementary materials before you start and complete the Quizzes once you are done.

Please NOTE:  You will find a reference to login to www.thewildcard.me/login in this video.  There is no need to login as we have loaded all of the supplementary materials here and in the Quizzes.

1 question

In the same way you conducted your research on your personal and leadership brand, it’s now time to find out how your team is perceived with all of your stakeholders.

Draft an email and top and tail it as you would usually do.  The message should include something along these lines:

We, the finance/sales/organisational development team are working on developing our team brand and would really appreciate your feedback as to how you perceive us in the context of our working relationship.  Specifically, we would like your opinion on our teams' top three positive qualities, and also those you believe need development.  Please be as constructive and honest as possible.  Timing wise, we would appreciate your feedback within the next week.

Now hit the ‘send’ button.

You are going to need to send this mail to loads of people to get a real idea of how your team is perceived.  Ideally you are looking for at least twenty responses to have a clear idea of what’s going on.

Send it to anyone the team has had a working relationship with. This includes other internal and external stakeholder teams, past and present colleagues, clients, suppliers, contacts et al.  When you receive the feedback, use a spreadsheet to organise this invaluable information.  You will find there are themes - collate these so that you can identify your top three areas of strengths and the top three areas you need to improve.

This is without doubt the most powerful exercise you will do in building your team brand.  You will learn what it is that others find compelling about your team and where you can improve.  You should expect a full response within a week to ten days of your email.

Once you have done your analysis, share this with your team and decide on a course of action.

1 question

The Science of Happiness at Work™ is in my view the most powerful diagnostic to measure pre and post engagement and to gain perspective on what is going on in your team.  This incredible research has found (when comparing the un-happiest and happiest people at work) if you are really happy you:

  • Are 180% more energised
  • Are 155% happier in your job
  • Are 108% more engaged at work
  • Love your job 79% more
  • Are 59% more motivated
  • Have 40% more confidence
  • Achieve your goals 30% more
  • Contribute 25% more

Can you imagine the impact of being ‘happy at work’ has on your teams’ performance?

You might also enjoy watching this TEDtalks video from Margaret Heffernan - Dare to Disagree where she explores how we avoid conflict in organisations.

Section 3: Module 4 - Corporate Leadership Brand
08:50
This lecture is just under 9 minutes in duration.  Here we explore:

  1. What is a Corporate Leadership Brand?
  2. Driving change through the creation of a Steerco
  3. How your clients experience your brand through your people

This is an introduction to Corporate Leadership Brand - there are no quizzes as this should be approached as a programme to drive a Stakeholder Driven Culture throughout your organisation.

Please NOTE:  You will find a reference to login to www.thewildcard.me/login in this video.  There is no need to login as we have loaded all of the supplementary materials here.
1 question

Congratulations, you have now completed Modules 2, 3 and 4. By now you should have a clear idea of your Leadership Brand, Team Brand and have explored the benefits of building a Corporate Leadership Brand for your business.

If you haven't already, you might want to take the time now to think of the practical ways you can begin to implement all of this. Begin with the purpose and work on the outcomes you would like to see. You can then create very practical ways of measuring this over a period of time.

Once you have answered these last questions for yourself in the Quiz after Lecture 7, please rate this course and post your comments. It will be much appreciated :-)

All the best and I look forward to seeing you again on Udemy.
