Well I'm here to tell you that you can learn to build a website using the online website building tool Weebly and it is easy, fun and very cheap. It can even be free if you want.
I can show you how.
Who am I?
I've been in the internet game since the beginning. Yes I'm old. I learned to build websites on my own using tools such as Dreamweaver and Front Page and let me tell you these were not easy to use in the beginning. Currently I use a few different tools to build websites but mainly Wordpress and Weebly. I have used Weebly for years for any clients that want a simple website to manage themselves. There is literally nothing easier for the technologically challenged than Weebly to build and manage websites. That is why my first course on Udemy is:
How to Build a Website using Weebly

You will be shown the following and more:
I know this course will provide you with tremendous value, and give you the opportunity to act on your online business ideas and plans. This will open up the world of the internet to you in an easy and cheap way.
What are you waiting for? Start today.
Basic step by step instructions on how to sign up for a free Weebly account. In addition you will be shown how to choose and the types of website options. The options are website, blog and store.
Picking a theme in Weebly is one of the first things you should do for each website you build.
Picking a theme later in process can lead to some images being lost or replaced with stock photos. Usually it is the header images that get replaced. So pick your theme early.
When you pick your theme you are often given the choice of different color options. So pick the colors that make sense with your site. But colors can be changed anytime in the design tab so keep that in mind.
Weebly gives you three options on how you can have your site domain.
1. Free Option
This option is obviously cheap. There is no cost. You will have a domain that is .weebly.com however so you do not have full control over the domain. This is a good option for starting out however. I recommend building your site using the free option and if you are happy with the results you can buy your domain through Weebly or somewhere else like Godaddy.
2. Purchase your domain through Weebly
This is a simple way to purchase your domain if you are using Weebly. The cost is pretty competitive with Godaddy and it makes is really easy to manage. If however you want have more flexibility with your domain you may want to use option 3 and buy your domain at a third party registrar like Godaddy. You do however have the option with Weebly to transfer the domain at a later time so you aren't tied to Weebly forever.
3. Use a domain you already own
If you already own your domain you can just select option 3 and point your Domain to the Weebly servers. It is easy to set up but check here for instructions - http://kb.weebly.com/domain-registrar.html
The Weebly Design tab is where you go to change the appearance of your Weebly website.
You can change the theme of the website, all colors and fonts in all areas.
Note that if you change the theme after you have already created your site you may find that your header images have been obliterated. So I recommend deciding on a theme early on in the game.
Titles in Weebly can be either simple text or an image logo. We will walk you through the options and discuss the pros and cons.
Header images are the main images at the top of your web page and can be the first impression people have of your website so they need to be well thought out. Images are taking over the web. We will walk you through how you add header images as well as the slideshow option for your home pages.
Weebly offers some great graphic options for adding images. This lecture will show you how to add a slideshow or image gallery to your web page. Remember the importance of using alt tags and captions with your images if you want to get some additional search engine pop for each picture.
How times have changed. Google maps integrates so easily with websites these days it is almost too easy to dedicate a lecture and Weebly makes it even easier.
All you need to know is the address and Weebly does the rest. Super simple.
Adding HTML code to your Weebly site opens up Weebly to any HTML code widget on the web.
This option is especially helpful when adding code from Facebook, Twitter, Google+ etc. These social media sites make it easy to build your social media profiles right into your website using HTML code snippets.
Adding pages to Weebly is as simple as going to the pages tab and then just clicking "Add page"
This lecture will walk you through all the page options for adding a standard web page, a blog page and store page and more.
It is important to note that the advanced section of each page contains important search engine optimization code so make sure these are filled out properly.
As with maps adding YouTube videos couldn't be much easier. As long as you know how to find the video on YouTube you are good to go. Just drag over the YouTube video widget then copy and paste the YouTube URL into the widget. Pretty simple.
For your own videos you can just upload the video directly to Weebly. Just as simple as YouTube.
This lecture will show you how to add forms to your Weebly website. A simple contact form really just requires that you drag and drop over the contact form into your page and that is about it.
We will walk you through editing and creating your own form that you can use for more than just a contact form.
The Weebly store module offers you the option of setting up a full fledged store. We will walk you through the store menu in this lecture and highlight all the options available in this module.
Adding categories to your store in Weebly is probably one of the first steps when building your store. It is important to plan out your store in terms of categories so your customers have an easy shopping experience.
It is often reported that customers on the internet will spend very little time on websites if they don't immediately find what they are looking for at first glance so plan your Weebly store categories to make it simple for your customers.
This lecture will walk you through the steps of manually adding products to your Weebly store as well as the bulk upload option available using excel spreadsheets.
The store settings in Weebly is where you will define many of the options for your store including:
While search engine optimization is a course unto itself this lecture will walk you through some of the sections within Weebly where you can optimize your website for search engines.
One key is to ensure you fill in all your page advanced settings (in the Pages tab) with good page descriptions and keywords.
Social media is, as you know, all the rage these days with online business marketing. Weebly makes adding your social media profiles very easy with its build in social media icons.

I worked for over 15 years at IBM during the webs infancy. During and since that time I honed my skills in many facets of the internet mainly through trial and error.
I've started and sold three web businesses and now focus on consulting and teaching others in small business to help themselves. I've specialized the last three years in helping small businesses with their local online marketing.
During this time and through the years I've built a strong knowledge base in many web apps and applications as I developed my expertise. In terms of web building tools I've used them all. I have very current experience in Wordpress, Dreamweaver, Joomla, Weebly, Yola and others.
In terms of actual education I'm a CPA and all the excitement that entails. But my passion has always been online entrepreneurship.
Currently I am the owner and started the Local Search Canada blog. Specializing in local search marketing and optimization in both Canada and now the US.
