Welcome to the course - "Enterprise Resource Planning in 90 Minutes". This "Introduction" lecture provides an overview of our company, instructor and clarifies learning goals. At the end of course, you will be able to describe how enterprise resource planning systems help manage four resources, commonly known as 4 M - Man, Money, Machines and Materials.
Course has been divided into 10 key lectures and we expect that you will spend at least 90 minutes to complete the course.
Lecture 2 "Key concept" provides an overview of history of enterprise resource planning systems. You will learn how ERP systems evolved and what the current trends are. You will learn definition of ERP, characteristics and business functions supported on ERP system.
Business processes are foundation of any ERP system and accounting is the most common function. Usnmg accounting companies determine their financial positions such as assets, outstanding debt and claims, revenues and expenses . Profit (and Loss), cash flows and balance sheet can be reported from these components. In this lecture, you will common most common business processes in accounting and corporate finance.
Hopefully, you have completed the business processes in financials and accounting. Now lets visit the people management for your enterprise, commonly known as "Human Resources" function. In this lecture, you will study business processes in recruiting, talent management, payroll, benefits and many more.
During earlier lectures, you studies about the management of money and man. This lecture focuses on the flow of materials. You will learn about various planning, execution and reporting functions within supply chain components such as purchasing, warehouse management, transportation, etc.
In the recent years, focus has increased on the management of customers and organizations are becoming more customer-centric. In the lecture, we will visit business processes in sales, marketing, promotion, customer relationship and profitability management.
Hopefully, you have already studied the flow of materials within enterprise. In this lecture, we will learn about the another aspect of material management which is creation of materials. You will learn about the business processes for the design and development product prototype and its manufacturing among others.
