Tom has been part of his family business, Pelican Manufacturing, for over 20 years, developing new and innovative medical device products for elderly & recovering people, and people living with disabilities.

Ensuring product quality and maintaining an excellent company reputation is what drives Tom. Since 1986 Pelican has existed to improve both the comfort and well-being of people living with disabilities and elderly people, and their carers and families. Empathy, compassion and an ability to get things done are all personal attributes required in making the business work.

He has worked closely with various national organisations, including:

- Family Business Australia, who offer support and education for people working in family businesses

- Leading Age Services Australia (LASA), who is the aged care industry membership group for aged care in Australia, providing expertise advice, training and services for aged care providers
