Hi everyone! My name is Tiya Tito I am an occupational therapist and I graduated with my Doctorates in Occupational Therapy from Drake University Des Moines, Iowa. I have many strong passions in occupational therapy and they include, advocate to prevent domestic violence and sexual violence, working with pediatrics especially with special needs children, working with patients with neurodevelopment disorder such as Parkinson's disease and dementia, and the mental health field. I am an advocate to prevent gender based violence in all communities and especially for people of color and in the South Asian community. I want to create a pathway for occupational therapy to work with the populations of victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual violence in all communities. I want to also build education of trauma-informed care of interventions and strategies when occupational therapists, health care professionals, and non-health care professionals work with the population of domestic violence and sexual violence. There needs to be a change and it starts with us. It starts with me here.
