Sanja (pronounced Sanya) is a Greek language teacher, with a degree in modern Greek language and literature from the University of Belgrade, in Serbia. She specialized in teaching Greek as a second language and speaks Serbian, Italian, German, and English and some Russian. She has been teaching Serbian and Greek on the internet for many years, with students from all over the world.
Sanja lives in Greece, has raised two girls and a boy there, over the last 20 years and currently works as a translator, instructor and tutor. Professional translations include books, documents and internet pages, and writing articles for web pages. The latest
internet translation was for the Greek tourist organization about
places to visit in Greece.
In addition to formal university education, supplemented by training and seminars in Greek language and history, Sanja has continued her education in Balkan studies, culture and sociology through universities and colleges and on Greek islands. Courses included opportunities to exchange learning strategies with other students from different countries who were also studying Greek as a foreign language. She feels that students learn the Greek language best with people, by participating in everyday conversations.
Greek is not similar to any other language in the world and that makes it special, especially since so many Greek words exist in most other languages. As a non-native speaker Sanja is very aware of the difficulties people from other countries have when learning Greek. She has a breadth of experience over the last 20 years teaching students from Australia, USA, England, Serbia, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Germany, France, Switzerland, Israel, Lebanon, Croatia, Hungary, Portugal, and Ukraine and invites you, wherever you are from, to join her in the adventure of learning Greek!
