In 1981, while working as a bookbinder in Amsterdam, I came across a sheet of washi :Japanese handmade paper, and moved to Japan.
After visiting washi studios around Japan, I started my carrier from cultivating washi fiber plants.
I believe that washi made using a method from the late Edo period, in which all processes are carried out by hand without the use of chemicals, carries the strongest message and is the basis of my papermaking.
I cherish the words of washi master, "A papermaker's job is to bring out the beauty of the raw material's fibers."
My paper is mainly used for commercial interiors, interior paper, and fine art paper.
The studio, Washi Studio Kamikoya, was opened in 2006. To date, I have taught more than 3,000 people from professional artists to families to students.
Certified by Kochi Prefecture as a The master of washi paper making (2007).
