Hi, I’m Melissa, the creator of Public Safety Prep and a 22-year 911 Dispatcher with experience in call-taking, radio, tactical dispatching, and training new dispatchers. Over the years, I’ve helped guide countless new recruits through the hiring process, the CritiCall exam, academy training, and their first months on the floor; work that eventually inspired me to build Public Safety Prep as a place for clear, realistic, and supportive dispatcher education.
I’ve also served as an interim dispatch supervisor, written training manuals, and supported major incidents as a tactical dispatcher. Teaching and preparing new dispatchers is one of my favorite parts of this career, and this course is designed to give you the honest, practical guidance I wish every candidate had from day one.
Outside of work, I’m married to a police sergeant, so public safety is truly a family commitment, and yes, our two dogs supervise all course content with love and judgment.
My goal through Public Safety Prep is simple: to help you step confidently into this career and succeed in a role that can genuinely change lives.
