I had the opportunity of knowing personally Maurizio Bisogno when he came to study philosophy at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) after having already spent some years of philosophical study at Italian universities. He had a respectable background of direct knowledge of certain classical and especially contemporary continental philosophers, and a genuine passion for philosophy that pushed him to produce his own philosophical ideas in an original way. In my opinion he was in need of more systematic and professional discipline and for this reason I convinced him to prepare his master dissertation under my tutorship in Philosophy of Science, that is, a domain in which rigour is especially necessary. The result was satisfactory: his thesis on the work of the Swiss mathematician-philosopher Ferdinand Gonseth was good, and such that I could entrust him with the translation of two volumes regarding Gonseth for the book series "Epistemologia" of which I was the Editor for the publisher Franco Angeli of Milan. In the following years I also accepted some articles by Maurizio Bisogno in the journals .Nuova Secondaria and Epistemologia of which I was the Editor. In the last two decades my contacts with him have become sporadic, also due to the fact that I retired both from the Universities of Fribourg and Genoa, of which I am Emeritus. Nevertheless, from time to time I have had the opportunity of corresponding with him and becoming acquainted with his work and production. If I consider the varied display of my best disciples, I can make a distinction between those who were especially prone to systematic and 'professional' work, and those who were more gifted for lively production of ideas and genuine philosophical passion. Maurizio Bisogno belongs to the second category, and is one of the few persons I know who have made of philosophy their fundamental commitment for life. For this reason I think that he would be very stimulating when coming into contact with young students as a teacher, increasing their motivation for the study of philosophy, and exchanging with them a real philosophical dialogue.

Maurizio Bisogno spent the first 21 years of his life in the beautiful region of Campania in Southern Italy. His natal village is located not far from the sea and is at the bottom of a breathtaking mountain.
Maurizio's interest for philosophy and writing began when he was 15. He had to understand politics beyond what was appearing to him. Maurizio needed to study theories, not just pragmatic events. He also had a need for introspection. Karl Marx ,Antonio Gramsci, Frederick Nietzsche and Giacomo Leopardi, Sigmund Freud were among his 'companions'.
Maurizio attended The University of Salerno, The University of Naples and The University of Fribourg. He graduated with a Masters Of Arts in Philosophy.
He has written poems, articles, short essays and his book, La Filosofia è la Vita. He also focuses on philosophical counseling.Maurizio and his work are unique since his life revolves around study and application of philosophy and psychology. His research does not follow 'present-day laboratory team-work'. His work is that of an individual thinker. Maurizio's understanding of what philosophy is, is rooted from the ancient Greek philosophy, but he has still developed his own way to walk the path. Maurizio says that life and its manifestations inspire him to do what he does.
Maurizio is currently living in Ireland. He has a job, takes care of his family and continues to pursue his philosophical research and writing.
