Dr. James Calvert is a licensed clinical psychologist and senior lecturer at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. He is also the president of Calvert Partners, PLLC. He has spent over 30 years in healthcare as a psychologist, program director, training director, clinical director, and executive director at community mental health agencies, hospitals, and private practices. For 10 years, he was the training director at two APA-accredited doctoral internships in clinical psychology and two postdoctoral fellowships in clinical child psychology. He has taught at eight universities in doctoral programs in clinical psychology and Master's programs in both counseling and social work. He has been on committees to select graduate students, interns, and postdoctoral fellows. Dr. Calvert obtained his bachelor's degree from Clemson University and his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Louisiana State University. He obtained a postdoctoral Master's degree in psychopharmacology from Fairleigh Dickinson University and was one of the first group of psychologists in the U.S. to be licensed as a prescribing psychologist. He is an accreditation site visitor for the American Psychological Association. He has been the Professional Continuing Education Director for APA Division 55 (Pharmacotherapy). He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association in Divisions 55 (Pharmacotherapy), 53 (Child and Adolescent), and 43 (Couples and Family).
