DR FUNKE MEDUN
Dr Funke Medun brings several years of experience spanning business development, consulting, entrepreneurship development, relationship & team management, research, banking, human resource management, and building & maintaining strategic alliances. She holds a first degree in Geology, an MBA from the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS), Pan Atlantic University, Nigeria, and a doctorate from Paris School of Business (PSB), Paris, France. She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) Nigeria. She is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Administrators (FCPA), a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), and a licensed human resource practitioner (HRPL). She is also an alumnae of China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and IESE Business School, Spain. She is an international academic journal reviewer with the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS) and the RSIS International journals. She is a life member of Women in Business and Management (WIMBIZ) Nigeria. She is an author, a practitioner-scholar, a sought-after trainer and a guest speaker. Dr Medun is an adjunct faculty at James Hope University, Rome Business School, and a co-faculty at Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM). She is an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of Proshare, and served as the same on the board of Sunshine Foods Concept Production Limited (SFCPL), a Public Private Partnership (PPP), serves on the boards of a few other organizations and strategic committees. She is also an alumnae of the United States government exchange program academy for women entrepreneurs (AWE).
She is an accredited World Bank business development support (BDS) consultant, a certified digitalization consultant (CDC), and an international development fellow. She is a BDS consultant for the World Bank Growth & Employment (GEM) project, Bank of Industry (BOI) Nigeria, GIZ, and Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF), and the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) employability program lead consultant. She also initiated and led the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA) employability and entrepreneurship development (KEESD) program targeted at youths in the state. She is the pioneer program coordinator for the CEIBS WELA program in Nigeria. Funke was an interviewer on the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN)/ Mafita/UKAid Accreditation of BDSPs in Nigeria project. Funke also consulted and trained on the FGN YouWin Connect youth enterprise development project. She is currently a director at Leapworld Limited, a management & BDS services consulting, assessment, empowerment, training, and human resource management organization.
Dr Funke Medun had ample experience in the banking sector before joining the consulting industry. She worked with the leading banks in Nigeria: Zenith Bank Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GTBank) in different departments and capacities. She was also the country manager/head business development, Nigeria, of a consulting firm with head-office in Canada. She has pioneered several business units, successfully managed several teams, mentoring and impacting great skills and results. Funke has multi-sectoral work experience and has worked with several thousands of MSMEs and several large enterprises up to the top management and board level. Her work experience covers private, NGOs and government (state and federal) enterprises.
Dr Funke Medun is also active in community development. She is the pioneer president of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) Members’ Cooperative Multipurpose Society; a member of the institute’s research and publication committee, a member of the MSME development committee, and a training facilitator. She is a member of the WIMBIZ advocacy committee, and has served as a member of the WIMBIZ capital committee. She is also a member of the Lagos Business School Alumni Association (LBSAA) President’s dinner planning committee and fund-raising team. She was a volunteer mentor on the LSETF project to selected MSMEs, a volunteer facilitator for Ready Set Work, a Lagos State project to prepare students in their final year for the world of work, entrepreneurship, and life outside school. In addition, she was a volunteer financial education trainer with the “financial literacy for all” project, Nigeria (in Collaboration with the Commonwealth UK), and a life-skills trainer with the Lagos Eko Education project (World Bank-funded). She was also a mentor under the Guaranty Trust Bank plc staff mentoring scheme and a peer educator with the Health & Life planning club (Action Health Incorporated, Lagos).
