About me
I am a Master Mariner, a Certified Pilot, and a BSc Graduate in Maritime Safety and Marine Transportation.
During the 22 years of Foreign Going deep sea sailing experience in the Maritime industry, I gained a vast knowledge about vessel operation at sea, Marine Transportation and Pilotage.
Deep sea sailing involved working onboard various types of cargo ships such as General cargo, Bulk carriers, Reefers, Containers and Refined Product Tankers sailing worldwide including a Luxury Yacht .
During my sailing career I became the Master onboard a luxury motor yacht owned by the President of Sierra Leone West Africa. President entertained all his official guests who were heads of states of different countries. I obtained Sierra Leone Pilots License to navigate this expensive luxury yacht along the West African waterways and rivers. Cursing speed was 22 knots, LOA 100 feet, powered by two GMs.
After leaving the luxury yacht, joined the Sierra Leone National Petroleum Company (NP). I was Responsible to transport 1200 metric tons of refined Auto Gas Oil, Gasoline, and Diesel oil from the ports in West coast of Africa, to the company's own tank farm in Freetown Sierra Leone, for local consumption. Vessel was also on time charter to Shell of Ivory Coast, where she had to deliver two shipments of Diesel oil to the mining sites on monthly basis. Mines were located in the bush with the access being 99 nautical miles along the SHERBRO River. Local knowledge regarding currents and tides were essential. Master was responsible to pilot the vessel through narrow rivers berthing and un berthing alongside the mining sites oil jetty which was at the river end. There were no mooring boats, no tugs, no pilots, and all berthing and un berthing were done by the Master with strong tides which were about 6 knots during spring tide.
During the 24 years of experience in the Maritime Training and Management industry, I worked as the Senior Lecturer / Manager, in an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Managed Maritime Training College ( German Owned) for a period of 15 years. In the first 9 years lecturing Personal Survival Techniques, Basic Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities, Advanced Fire Fighting, Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue boats other than fast rescue boats, Fast Rescue Boats, Safe Working Code, Accident Prevention and ISM Code for Deck Officers, Engineer Officers, Cooks, Stewards, deck and engine ratings in the merchant navy.
On January 2007, I became the Manager of the same Maritime College and managed for a period of 6 years.
