Dwight Dunn — Mathematics, Statistics & Data Science Educator
Dwight Dunn is an experienced mathematics educator with more than 20 years of teaching experience across high school, college, and university settings. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics, a Master’s degree in Data Science, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Biology. He also holds professional teaching licenses in North Carolina and Georgia.
Throughout his career, Dwight has taught a wide range of mathematics courses, including Statistics, College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Advanced Calculus, AP Calculus, and IB Mathematics. He has also mentored students and future educators, developed mathematics curriculum, and supported learners across a variety of academic levels.
His teaching philosophy focuses on conceptual understanding rather than rote memorization. Dwight believes students should understand why a mathematical or statistical method works, when it should be used, and how to interpret the result.
His continued professional development in data science has expanded his expertise into statistics, data analysis, Python, R, data visualization, statistical modeling, and machine learning. This combination of mathematics education and data science allows him to connect foundational statistical concepts with modern, real-world applications of data.
As the creator of Statistics Made Clear, Dwight’s goal is to make statistics approachable without sacrificing mathematical rigor. Students are guided through concepts step by step using clear explanations, worked examples, visual representations, practice opportunities, and real-world applications.
His guiding philosophy is simple:
Understand the mathematics. Apply the mathematics. Explain what the numbers mean.
