“I believe deeply in the intelligence of the body and in the inseparable connection between body, emotions, and presence.”
Desi Tess is a professional yoga teacher whose work is rooted in somatic yoga, nervous system awareness, and trauma-informed teaching. She approaches yoga as a tool for understanding emotional experience through the body, recognizing that emotions are not just mental states, but lived experiences expressed through sensation, breath, posture, and movement.
Yoga has been a central path of self-discovery in Desi’s life, supporting her in reconnecting with her body, cultivating presence, and developing a deeper relationship with her emotions. Her journey as a practitioner and teacher has taken her around the world: she deepened her practice in India, where she became a certified yoga teacher, and later explored modern somatic and mindfulness-based approaches in Bali, integrating movement, breathwork, and embodied awareness.
Today, Desi’s teaching focuses on somatic practices, nervous system education, and emotional regulation. Through yoga, breathwork, mindfulness, and free movement, she supports students in developing interoceptive awareness and the capacity to relate to emotions with greater clarity, safety, and choice.
Her approach emphasizes embodiment over performance and regulation over catharsis. Rather than aiming to fix, release, or provoke emotional experiences, her work invites students to build capacity, presence, and trust in their own nervous systems.
Alongside her online courses, Desi offers 1:1 sessions, workshops, and retreats internationally. Those interested in deepening their practice or exploring embodied and trauma-informed pathways are welcome to reach out to learn more about her ongoing offerings.
Her intention is to support people in reconnecting with their bodies, honoring emotional diversity, and cultivating a grounded, respectful relationship with inner experience - on and off the mat.
