Catriona’s music journey started at a young age with exposure to multiple genres through music listening, singing, and film. She has played flute since the age of 11, performing in concert bands and wind ensembles ever since. Upon graduating high school, Catriona started teaching as a freelance private flute instructor in her hometown. She continued to perform in ensembles throughout college at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and decided to study composition. Catriona graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music focusing on composition and creative studies despite the struggle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ever since graduating, she has continued to teach music lessons independently and within several music schools, having over 7 years of experience while working towards an active music-making career. In addition to flute lessons, Catriona teaches guitar, piano, and cello. As a composer and producer, she finds inspiration through the beauty and tranquility of nature as well as emotional experiences that have made an impact on her life and those around her. Catriona believes trusting intuition and freely using the imagination is the best way to create authentic art and music. She officially started her own creative business, Catriona Music Studio, in hopes of cultivating learning, growth, and connection through music.
