English -: In this lesson, we're going to talk about mobile devices. Now specifically, we're going to focus on the types of PBQs and simulations that you may face when you're talking about mobile devices. This includes things like connecting a device to a wifi network, turning on and off features of your mobile phone, and being able to set up email on a device. So, when we talk about this type of stuff, it's important to remember that the exam is operating system agnostic. Now, what this means is that you're not going to get an Android, or an iPhone on the exam, as part of your simulation. Instead, they're going to give you some made-up operating system. But, if you're comfortable with either iPhone or Android, you should be fine using this part of the exam. Now again, they're going to start you off in some place like a settings menu, on this simulated smartphone. And then, you'd have to go and find the setting you need. So, if I wanted you to configure email, you would go and find the mail settings. If I wanted you to turn off a hotspot, you might want to go into the network setting, or the hotspot menu. If you needed to turn on airplane mode, you would find that button. Again, it's not going to be really difficult because most of us have used smartphones before, and we're pretty comfortable with it. Now, for the rest of this video, I'm going to disappear and become a disembodied voice, over the screen. This way you can focus on the materials, and I'll have more space on the screen to show you the smartphone that I'm going to be using as we go and configure this mobile device to turn on and turn off hotspots, turn on and turn off wifi, turn on and turn off airplane mode, set up email, and things like that. Okay, we are now in our mobile device environment. And for this example, I'm going to go ahead and use an iPad. Now, here is an iPad, but they could give you an Android device, or something that doesn't even look like either of them. But again, all these smartphones, you use them on a daily basis, so you should be pretty comfortable with them. All right, let's go ahead and start out by going into our settings, and it may be that they just start you already in your settings. That is a very common way for them to do it. Again, the less things they have to create on the screen, the less time it takes for you, and the less programming they had to do. So, let's say they said they wanted you to troubleshoot why this is not connected to wifi. Well, I see right away, that there's an airplane in the top left corner. That tells me that airplane mode is enabled. By default, airplane mode turns off cellular and wifi, so if somebody's having a problem and they're not getting their cellular signal, or their wifi signal, try turning off the airplane mode. Okay, now you'll see that we still aren't connected to wifi. Well, that's cause we have to click on wifi. You have to turn on the radio. And then, we're going to click on the network that we want to join. In this case, it is the DevOps network. And I'm going to go ahead and put in the password, and on the exam, they would give you a password, and say, "The password is password123." Or whatever it is. Go ahead and join, and there you go. You can see we now have connectivity with the little icon. And if all they wanted us to do was troubleshoot and restore wifi connectivity, we would be done. Click the done button, move on to the next question. All right, let's say we have another question. And they say, "Hey, we want you to secure this device. I want you to turn off any non-necessary things, like Bluetooth. I want you to change it from a simple passcode to an actual password. I want you to make it so you erase the content on this device, if somebody logs in incorrectly multiple times. I want you to make sure the passcode is immediately required when you turn on the device, and if somebody doesn't use it for two minutes, I want you to turn off the device, and lock it." Okay, that's a lot of things. But, we can do that here, okay? So, what we would do is we would simply go first and do 'em in order. They want me to turn off Bluetooth. Okay, done. Bluetooth is turned off. That's done and over with. Now we'll go to the next thing. We want to make sure we're changing our password. Well, to do that, we're going to find something that looks like password, or passcode, or something with a lock. And if we look down here, going down I see passcode. So, we'll go ahead and click on that, and here they have simple passcode. Well, a simple passcode allows you to use a four digit number, like 1234. We don't want to do that, so we're going to actually turn off the simple passcode option. And we are going to turn on the passcode. This allows us to set our passcode. So, I'm going to go ahead an set it. I'll just go ahead and type something in here. And then, click next. And then, I will again type in whatever the password is that they tell me. 'Cause they'll tell you in the instructions, "Set the passcode to password 123." Or whatever it is. Now that I've done that, we have a password on. Now, the other thing I want to do is I want to require the passcode to turn on immediately. Right now, you can see it requires the passcode to done after 15 minutes. Now, this is an Apple thing, where they talk about passwords and passcodes as being the same. On some devices, they'll call it a password. Some, they'll call it a PIN. Some, they'll call it a passcode. Depending on the device you get on test day, it'll either be password, passcode, or PIN. So, we'll go ahead and say this and we're going to do it immediately. So, as soon as you turn on the device, you will have to turn on that passcode. Okay, the next thing you want to make sure you do is we said we wanted to erase the content if somebody put in the wrong password 10 times or more. Well, here we go, down at the bottom. "Erase all data on this iPad after 10 failed log in attempts." Click, enable that, done. We've checked that mark. And the last thing we said was we wanted to auto-lock the device after two minutes of inactivity. Now, I don't see anything on this screen for that. So, I'm going to have to click around and figure out where that is. Now, that sounds like it could be maybe privacy, or maybe general. So, let me go ahead and click on privacy. Nope, they didn't simulate that view. So, that's not the right answer. Let's try general. There we go. Inside general, we can see down here at the bottom, auto-lock. And so, we'll go ahead and click on never. And we will set that to two minutes, five minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, whatever they told us. In our question, we were told two minutes, so we'll select two minutes. And at this point, we've done everything they wanted. So, we would simply click done and move on. All right, so that would take care of that part of the question. So, now we've gone through two different simulations. We were troubleshooting a wireless connection and we've now configured security settings. Let's go and take it one step further. Let's say I wanted to do both. I wanted networks and security. Now, if you remember back in your A Plus studies, you learned about a concept known as a virtual private network, a VPN. How would you enable a VPN on a mobile device? Well, let's go back here to our general settings, and scroll all the way to the bottom, and you'll see VPN. Now again, on other devices it may be a network tab, or under wifi, or something like that. And you're going to have to click around until you find it. But, they will try to make it fairly obvious. Here, on an Apple device, it is always going to be under the general tab. So, click on VPN. And if we wanted to set up a VPN, we'll click add VPN connection. And then from here, we're going to go ahead and set up a VPN connection. Are we using L2TP, PPTP, or IPSac? They'll tell you in the question which one it is. So, for example, maybe they're telling you you're going to use PPTP. Now, under PPTP, they'll tell you, "Call this the DionTrainingVPN, and the server's going to be vpn.diontraining.com." Or some IP address. They'll tell you what the account is, so mine is Jason. And then, my passcode, that's whatever the password is on your server for your VPN, so I'll put that in, it's password. And then, the encryption level you want to use. And they might tell you, or you'll just use auto. You want auto, maximum, none. Maybe they told you maximum, so we'll select maximum. And then, we'll go back here, and we're going to send all traffic through the VPN, which is already enabled, and then we'll just hit save. Once we did that, you'll see the little check mark, and you are now connected to the VPN. Check, that one's done. Hit the done button. You're done with this problem. So, that is the way we can deal with some of these basic problems, right? We dealt with how to get connectivity from wifi, how to turn on or turn off airplane mode, how to go through and turn on, and turn off Bluetooth, how to erase our PINs, and how to do all those type of things with security. And then, being able to set up our VPN. Now, I'm going to go ahead and bring up another device, so that we can go ahead and set up email on it, on a mobile device. Because, that's another common thing you may be asked to do. All right, so here we have an Android phone. And I'm going to use this to demonstrate how to configure email. Now, if they ask you to configure email, they're not going to make it simple on you and simply say, "Hey, go ahead and configure Gmail, and type in your Gmail account, and your password." That's not going to happen, it's too easy. Instead, they're going to ask you to configure one for a cooperate network, which would be either Exchange, or other mail. In our case, we're going to say in the instructions that it's going to be other mail, because that's most likely what you would see. So, if you go to other mail, it's going to ask for your email and your password. So for instance, it might be jason@diontraining.com, and my password, and sign in. Now again, this isn't going to work doing it that simply, because they're going to make you do it through manual configuration. So, you'll click manual configuration, and you'll enter your email address. So for instance, it'll be jason@diontraining.com and your password. And so, my password will be password. Whatever they give you in the instructions, they'll tell you what those passwords are, and what the configurations are. Then, they'll tell you whether or not you have an IMAP server, a POP server, or an SMTP server. And they'll give you the configurations you're going to need. So, they might say, "This person is using an IMAP server, and they want to use it over SSL." So, you'll have to go in, and type in the actual address, which might be something like imap.diontraining.com, and they won't give you the port, but they'll ask you for the port. And so, you'll have to know that IMAP, if you're not using SSL, is port 143, going back to our ports and protocols, right? And if they say it is SSL, then there might be an option where you can hit it, and it'll just say 993, which is the port for that. So, they'll have you do that. And then, for your outbound, you'll have to know what your outbound is. And so again, we're going to say that they're not encrypting it. And so, it is diontraining.com and your port for that is your SMTP port, which is 25. And so, here what they're testing is a couple of things. Do you know how to point and click your way through the gooey? Which is not too hard, and do you you know what the IMAP port is? 143, or if they told you it was a POP server, well then we would do pop.diontraining.com, and we would have to pick out the POP port, which would be 110. And then, what your outbound is, which is smpt.diontraining.com, port 25. Now, if this was Network Plus or Security Plus, they may have you memorize those SSL ports as well. But, for A Plus, they're going to keep it simple. POP is 110, IMAP is 143, and SMTP is 25. Once you do that, you hit sign in. It will go through and say successful. It will pretend it downloads mail. You hit done. And you're done with that problem. Again, it's fairly simple, and pretty straightforward. You just have to be able to figure out exactly which servers to use, based on the question. And, what those port numbers are. So, I hope this has been a great introduction to you, as we went through the different things you can do with a mobile device. Including security, airplane mode, Bluetooth, wifi connections, VPNs and even configuring email. If you can do all of the things I just went through in this video, you're going to do just fine on exam day.
