In this short video you will learn how to create a ficticious "pending" order that will protect and reserve your inventory. This is extremely helpful when running an aggressive promotion where you do not want to sell all of your available inventory.

Here are a few notes to keep in mind:

  • The amount of products you enter into this order are the number of products that you do NOT want to sell. I usually like to protect somewhere between 30 - 50% of my inventory, but you may want to protect more based upon how many units you are okay giving away with whatever promotion you are running.
  • When you are ready to release this inventory back into stock, you will need to find this order and cancel it. You will need to do an "advanced search" when searching through your orders, and make sure that "Show Pending Orders" is selected, since this will technically be a pending order.
  • If you are running a multi-day promotion and want to make sure you have inventory available each day, you can create multiple "pending" orders like this and cancel one each day to release more inventory.
