Section 1: Integration
01:07

Integration Management is described as the process for making sure that all of the processes, Process Groups and Knowledge Areas work together to deliver a project successfully. This includes managing and prioritizing resources, time, scope and budget. As the project manager, your primary responsibility is project integration. This is a very important point to remember for the exam.

04:13

On any new project, the first item to complete is the Project Charter.Once approved by the project sponsor, a Project Charter authorizes a project to begin. You may be involved in creating the project charter or the sponsor may provide a completed Project Charter to you. Remember: Without the project charter you can't start or assign work because you don't have the authority to do so.

03:11

The project management plan guides everything that happens on the project. This plan encompasses all other plans such as scope, procurement, time, and communications. It provides a project plan, baseline and schedule. Most importantly, the Project Management Plan describes how to handle changes to the project whenever they occur.

04:45

Now that you have the authorization to start the project work and the project management plan has been created, it's time to start directing and managing the work. As the project manager, your job is to MANAGE the work and make sure that all project resources are doing the appropriate work in order to meet all project requirements. These are your day to day duties.Remember that you are not responsible for doing the project work!

03:00

During the Monitor and Control Project Work process, you're tracking, reviewing and reporting project status.A good project manager is constantly monitoring everything that goes on during the project and providing current and updated status to all stakeholders. The status report will contain any changes to the project, steps taken to mitigate any issues, milestones achieved, budget consumption, and schedule. Constant monitoring of the project will help you identify risks and problems earlier rather than later.

You will be performing the Integrated Change Control process from the beginning of the project all the way to the end. It is your responsibility as a project manager to ensure that every change request is reviewed within this process. These changes can be from any project stakeholder and can be verbal or formal.

Close Project or Phase is the very last project process. You will be finalizing all activities in all areas when you close out a project or phase. Make sure that you document everything, especially your lessons learned at the end of the project. And where are those lesson learned stored after you document them? With the organizational process assets. Also at this point, you will be releasing your project resources, ensuring that all project work is complete, and confirming that the project has met its objectives. If a project was terminated for any reason before it met its objectives, those circumstances must be thoroughly documented
