Hi! I'm Tim Mertens.

With my first pocket money I bought a gameboy. Driven by technology I studied computer science. During my college years I wrote several small arcade games together with my best friend.

I began my career as a software developer. Here I worked together with a small team to update a software program used by hospitals.

After that I worked four years in a school as a teacher. Disappointed in how some teachers teach, I decided to put my course online. It seemed to be a great choice. Not only were my lessons a lot of fun, it also gave people the chance to learn at their own pace.

The past year I gained lots of experience with the Linux operating system. I'm still tutoring this to students. Alongside that we are working on a DVD called “The Linux command line". This will be available by the end of the summer.

Along with a wonderful team of colleagues I make sure that all our courses are weekly updated. Like this you stay up to date with all new technology.

I know what you're thinking: “Yes, Tim, you are SO amazing (and handsome), but what can I do this weekend to become an amazing programmer?"

It's not easy to learn to program. But I have done my best to make the course as interesting as possible. All the material is divided into chapters. If you take a chapter each week, along with the accompanying exercises. Then you will become an expert in no time!
