    Section 7: Recap
    • It's always best to have more than one example to work from, so I've gone through the entire process again with a new character. I'll be adding new character videos like this one from time to time. Please let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to see for the next entry.

By popular demand, I've recorded a video of a female character portrait. We'll discuss a few special considerations when painting a female character and have a good refresher on the general steps of this process too.

Section 8: Advanced Tutorial - Complete Character Rendering

Knowing how to realistically render cloth and drapery is a must when creating full figure character illustrations. Here, we will cover the basics of how to make marks that give a realistic sense of cloth. Three rough examples will be painted.

Here we will cover how to add photo textures to your character's clothing using the Soft Light layer blending mode. This is a great finishing tough to give the clothing some realistic punch.

This is a comprehensive video tutorial showing a male character rendered from scratch. We discuss everything from ideation to finishing touches. All techniques covered to this point will be used along with several new techniques. This is a more advanced challenge so it is recommended that you attempt this only after completing earlier sections.
