About me
Hello everyone! I’m Dr. Xie, a physician, data science educator, and Chinese culture educator. I started my career as a clinician in a large general hospital, working face to face with patients and their families. Over time, I moved into the medical innovation and big data field, working with real‑world medical data, clinical data mining, and medical AI modeling. Today, I spend much of my time teaching medical data science and AI, helping clinicians and researchers turn clinical questions into data, models, and meaningful results.
But behind my technical work, there has always been another wish: to help more people truly understand Chinese culture and the health wisdom inside it. My education includes undergraduate training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, master’s‑level training in Internal Medicine (Clinical Medicine), and doctoral‑level training in Basic Medical Sciences. This path allowed me to see both classical Chinese ideas about the body and modern evidence‑based medicine, and to notice how Chinese habits, food, and daily life quietly shape health.
My long‑term goal is not only to teach R, data mining, and AI, but also to introduce authentic Chinese culture and Chinese health culture to learners around the world in clear, accessible English. I want to share how ordinary things—family meals, seasonal routines, festival traditions, movement practices like martial arts and Qigong—connect to the way people in China think about balance, prevention, and healing.
I am passionate about health data visualization and medical data mining, and equally passionate about telling the real stories behind Chinese culture, beyond stereotypes. Through my courses, I hope to build a bridge: between East and West, between numbers and narratives, and between modern medical science and the lived experience of Chinese culture. In my spare time, I enjoy being with my family, reading, practicing martial arts, and Qigong—many of the same practices that shaped my own understanding of health and life.
