I
have been teaching Shodo in Kumano town for the past 33 years.
I
teach Shodo at many kindergartens, elementary schools and junior high schools.
And I also teach many temple monks and adult people.
I
do intend to introduce this splendid world of Shodo to many people in the
world. In English, Shodo can be
translated to “Calligraphy” and Fude to “Writing Brush”.
But
I want to insist that we should use “Shodo” and “Fude” in the world instead of
English vocabularies of calligraphy and brush as they call sushi as “Sushi”
also in English.
The
reason of this is that Shodo is not a simple calligraphy. Shodo is a practice to write letters by using
a writing brush. But it is a practice also to train yourself. In Shodo, we write letters but I must say that
those letters always reflect yourself and your personality.
