About me
I really enjoy inspiring people to make positive changes to improve their career and create a better life.
As a careers advisor, I've worked with all sorts of different folk, from homeless people to graduates and senior executives. I'm the author of 9 Steps to CV and Resume Success and have helped many people improve their CVs and job applications, enabling them to get a better job.
I've also worked with people who want to start up on their own and helped them come up with a business idea that works for them.
As a teacher, I've taught many different subjects, including basic skills, academic writing, life skills, and languages - Chinese, French and German.
I have a BA in Chinese and German and spent a year in Chinese and six months in Germany as part of my course. I had already spent a year working in a hospital in German after leaving school.
I trained as a careers advisor at the University of East London and worked in various charities and colleges as well as freelance.
I trained as a teacher at the Institute of Education (PGCE in Post Compulsory Education, that is a post graduate certificate to teach people over 16). I then taught part time for 4 years at the IOE, teaching academic writing to Further Education teachers on the Cert Ed course.
I love languages, travel and learning new skills. I taught myself to build WordPress sites and have made my own and several for other people too.
