A multi award winning broadcaster, writer and producer who has worked with radio and TV broadcasters, advertising agencies and direct clients. Tosh Lubek’s work incudes radio and television advertising and programming in a thirty-year career working for broadcasters in England and Scotland.
Although Tosh started in traditional media he embraced new media as early as 1995 when he created his first website, a site focusing on the cultural past of north east Scotland. In 2007 he launched an entertainment channel on metacafe, then the third largest video sharing site. A dozen or so videos attracted millions of views, earning the channel significant revenues from metacafe’s Producer Rewards program. Further channels followed on YouTube for local video marketing, product reviews and business tips. The revenues this time coming from business clients, Google’s advertising revenue share and affiliate programs.
Tosh has also shared his knowledge as a guest lecturer, teaching students at both Aberdeen and Ayr Colleges. More recently he has been offered consultancy work for a number of clients seeking to improve their studios and production skills.
In 2010 he launched Tosh Lubek Productions, a media production company based in south west Scotland, offering audio and video production services to clients across the UK. One of the more unusual projects has been the sound design for a dinosaur park in Scotland. Website videos, radio ads and TV commercials followed helping Dino Park to attract tens of thousands of visitors in its first season.
The work of Tosh Lubek Productions has helped with the commercial success of many clients. For instance, an instructional video for Kirbie Engineering Solutions helped increase their sales by almost 200%, while reducing customer service calls. A product demo video for a new ladder safety product helped another Scottish client sell most of their initial stock within three weeks of launch. There have also been numerous successful radio commercials. Campaigns for the National Trust for Scotland helped the Trust achieve their “best ever Easter” and doubled visitor numbers at their Haddo House Christmas events.
Industry awards have come Tosh’s way for his work in broadcasting. As writer and producer of a road safety campaign he landed a Gold Sony and Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in the New York Festivals International Advertising Awards. Another advertising campaign for Strathclyde Fire & Rescue and a radio documentary brought further award success in the United Kingdom and the USA.
Tosh lives with his wife, two children and two cats in south west Scotland. When time permits he can sometimes be found chest deep in Scottish rivers panning for gold or pursuing his interest in early cinema, specifically early animation.
