Dr. Barnes received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech, completed his postdoctoral work at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and now works as a Senior Software Scientist at the Molecular Sciences Software Institute (MolSSI).  He has contributed to the development of numerous codes in the computational molecular sciences, and is a part-time instructor of software engineering at UC Berkeley.
