Restoring and refining mental health
About me
We are a team of affiliated doctors, psychologists and mental health nurses, with a passion for education. We are all well into our careers and we believe that we should reach a wider audience than just the people we see in clinic.
We believe that mental performance and mental health can be improved by oneself, with the right tools and guidance. We also believe that mental health is not just about the absence of illness. It's about mental strengths, belief, relationships, strong character, making good decisions, and doing justice to one's abilities. That's Mental Wealth.
We live in service of people who wish to live fuller, happier, more fulfilled lives, but we rely on solid ground: science and experience.
Life is full of both difficulty and joy, and we have only to try to make the best decisions we can, given our hopes and plans, alongside dealing effectively and contentedly with the events and turns that life brings. Among our team, we ourselves have experienced great difficulties and traumas, both in our own health and beyond, but we are thankful to have come through them because of the support of our families, each other, and by using the very techniques and methods we teach here.
We focus on our strength: We are above all, united as passionate educators. Knowledge is king, and knowledge of oneself is supreme. Between us, we try to explain complex and subtle things in easy and effective ways.
Professional life in mental health can be very fulfilling but is also hazardous. The care systems we work in are often incomplete and inadequate, and there are helpful and unhelpful processes in any line of work. In our clinical work, we rarely thanks from patients, neither do we expect it.
Our fulfilment is based on knowing we do a good job, and being grateful that life gives us the honour and privilege of helping another person. Patients have troubled minds and difficult histories; some will not want help, and some will be plainly dangerous to deal with. We persist, refining our work and doing the best we can whatever comes our way, both at work and at home. We are, after all, normal people (ish).
We have worked and succeeded for several years at the highest levels in mental health. All of us have extensive clinical experience, mostly gained in the UK's NHS system, but now we work internationally.
Dr Harris MD is the main program coordinator and program designer; we all contribute to this mission without financial gain as the prize. It's much more about doing something for the enrichment of mankind's mental wellbeing. Funds from these courses go towards our voluntary work and towards creating more material.
