About Susan Gast
Susan Gast emigrated from northern England to the United States in 1980 and has spent decades building websites, publishing books, producing videos, creating online courses, and learning new digital skills.
She is the founder of Easy Food Dehydrating, a long-running website dedicated to food preservation and preparedness, and Live Better Sober, where she shares practical guidance and personal insights drawn from approaching 30 years of alcohol-free living.
Susan has been sober since January 1998, following 20 years of nightly drinking. Today, she helps women better understand and break the nightly drinking habit through her websites, books, videos, and her course, Live Better Sober: Quit Drinking — Break the Alcohol Habit.
Her interest in digital storytelling led her to create The Tabbys, an ongoing series of short AI-generated videos featuring two recurring cat characters named George and Maggie. Using Google Flow, character reference images, carefully constructed prompts, and Camtasia®, Susan developed the characters across a connected series of humorous—and sometimes surprisingly meaningful—episodes.
She brings that practical, hands-on experience to her AI video course, including the experiments, unexpected results, continuity problems, and selective editing decisions that are part of creating usable AI-generated video.
Susan is also the author of books covering food dehydration, sobriety, and puzzle-solving. Whatever the subject, she enjoys creating content that is practical, honest, and easy to follow.
When she isn’t writing, recording videos, or working on one of her websites, you’ll usually find her enjoying Florida’s Treasure Coast, experimenting with a new project, or learning something new herself.
And yes—she still takes other people’s Udemy courses too.
