My vision is to equip individuals with relevant mental skills and tools that will allow them to optimally perform within their performance environment.
My story:
I won a silver Olympic medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics with a time of 1:54.97, becoming the second woman ever to break the 1:55 mark. This achievement also marked a historic moment, as I became the first Slovenian to bring home an Olympic swimming medal.
Pursuing my swimming career and academic studies, I attended the University of California, Berkeley, achieving success in both areas. As a three-time NCAA team champion, I graduated with a degree in Psychology, emphasizing neuropsychology. Later, I earned a Master’s degree in Performance Psychology in San Diego, graduating with honors. My master's thesis focused on Aviation Psychology, specifically exploring the effect of mindfulness training on airline pilots.
Between my undergraduate and graduate degrees, I conducted brain research at the University of California, San Diego. In the neuroscience laboratory, we explored the neural mechanisms of optimal performance, resilience, and stress coping mechanisms in U.S. Navy SEALs, Marines, and Olympic athletes. As a co-author, I have been published in two research journals: Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience and Biological Psychology.
After my experiences in the U.S., I moved back to Dubai, my childhood home, where I worked as an intern in the Emirates Airlines psychology department. There, I developed my own mental training program for airline pilots and presented my ideas on the TEDx stage that same year. Following multiple projects around the world, including joining a startup in Oslo and preparing four Norwegian girls to row across the Atlantic, I decided to return to Slovenia and wrote my first book, Between Two Lanes: A Mental Training Program for Swimmers.
Now, I lecture and prepare performers from various backgrounds for optimal performance in their fields and create online and live mental training courses and events.
