Samuel S Gingher

Dr. Samuel Gingher, from Greensboro, NC, holds a DMA in Piano Performance and Literature (2015), MM in Piano Pedagogy (2011) and MM in Piano Performance (2009) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and BM in Piano Performance from UNC-Chapel Hill (2006).
Sam has been prize-winner in many piano competitions, including the Krannert Debut Artist Award, first prize in the Brevard Festival Solo Piano Competition, concerto competition winner at UNC-Chapel Hill and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, among other awards. Sam has performed in piano and chamber music festivals in the US, Austria and Switzerland, and has played in a variety of jazz and chamber music groups over the years in North Carolina and Illinois.
Sam's research interests include classical piano improvisation pedagogy (with particular interest in Carl Czerny's contributions to the art of extemporization), and the discovery and performance of rare masterworks. Sam is currently on faculty at Millikin University, where he teaches the class piano curriculum, offers private instruction through the preparatory department, and ad hoc accompanying duties. Sam's recent CD of all world-premiere piano trios by Carl Czerny can be heard on the Naxos label.
