About me
Samir Asaf is Senior Partner at Regent Financial LLC. Dr. Asaf has 31 years of experience in management, consulting, and investment banking. He is a registered investment banking representative with Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and holds an active Series 79 license.
Dr. Asaf has expertise in telecom, manufacturing, technology and service sectors, and as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Stanford University, he is a thought leader in strategic finance. He has 15+ years of experience at the board level, and has served as CEO at multiple companies spanning technology, manufacturing and service sectors in North America and Asia-Pacific regions. He was a speaker at the UN Global Compact Leadership Summit in Geneva in 2009.
He is a Certified M&A Advisor (CM&AA) from the Alliance of Merger and Acquisition Advisors (USA); Chartered Investment Banking Professional (CIBP) from Investment Banking Council of America; and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute. Previously, he served as Finance Director at AT&T Corp., where he supported business planning and M&A transactions, including AT&T’s acquisition and divestiture of over 50 companies, of which 27 acquisitions came from private equity firms. He supported AT&T’s acquisition of WarnerMedia for $108.7B, and divestiture of Wireline Broadband and Video Operations to Frontier Communications for $2.0B. Dr. Asaf served as Senior Advisor at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) - a part of the World Bank Group, where he was involved in conventional and synthetic debt, equity, mezzanine and other structured finance transactions.
He is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) from Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), USA; Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) from the Association of Financial Professionals (AFP), and Certified Strategy Management Professional (SMP) from IASP. He completed the Certificate in Advanced Accounting from University of California, Berkeley; and Professional Certificate in Data Science from MIT. He is a Chartered Director and Fellow at the Institute of Directors (IOD), UK; and a Board Leadership Fellow at the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD).
He received a BSc in Economics from Boston College; MSc in Econometrics and Macroeconomics from The London School of Economics; Postgraduate Diploma in Management from Oxford University; PhD in Finance from SMC University (Switzerland); and was a Research Fellow in Strategic Finance at the Harvard Business School. Dr. Asaf is author of “Executive Corporate Finance: The Business of Enhancing Shareholder Value,” Financial Times Prentice Hall (2004), and the 2020 NYC Big Book Award Winner “Engage x Lead = Transform” (2019). His forthcoming book “Handbook of Investment Banking” is to be published by Stanford University Press in 2024.
