Rose Gennaro is an established artist in Upstate New York who has a passion for painting beautiful scenery and subjects that inspire her. She has a BS in Art Education and an MS in Fine Art. In addition, she has studied under local and accomplished artists in the region. Along with pursuing her own work, she exhibits and sells work locally. She has taught art privately, in the public schools and online.
Her style is a combination of realism, impressionism with an emphasis on light and dramatic contrasts.
Most of her subjects are taken from hikes/walks in the region where she lives and from her travels to other areas. She is inspired by scenic landscapes and historical sites, painting mainly from photographs that she takes herself and also on location. Interpreting light and color are extremely important to her, and she tries to capture the essence of the subject in her paintings. It is her hope that the viewer will be able to share in her experiences of being there through her expressions on canvas.
Rose also paints from inspired ideas, usually related to current or past events – such as 9/11 and Covid-19. She was featured in a local newspaper for her depiction of the Covid-19 virus in NYC and Upstate NY. Also, she was part of a local 9/11 exhibit showing her recent depiction of the tragedy, entitled “Twin Towers Remembered”, all of which can be viewed on her website.
Prints of her paintings are for sale through the Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest elevated pedestrian bridge in the world.
