Reuben has been embedded in the Malaysian theatre scene for 14 years (including a short stint in Australia). After gaining his certifications in Australia, he started as a theatre practitioner, then educator. Within the last 10 years, he has been teaching secondary school students and adults while concurrently managing the collective arts departments for three international schools under Ace Ed-Venture.
Reuben has also been involved in over 50 productions in a full spectrum of roles from backstage through to front of house. He is also the creator of the Student Directed Festival (SDF), which has won 3 BOH Cameronian Arts Awards (founded by KakiSeni, the “Cammies” - as they are known – is the most prestigious awards for the arts industry in Malaysia). SDF is now an annual large-scale production that typically involves over 100 students acting, managing and directing sold-out 10 minute plays.
He also wrote a digital book to help educators build their own “SDF”. He believes that drama is a critical component to fostering relationships, nurturing identity and building an organised lifestyle in the real world. He specialises in acting, script analysis, stage management, leadership and theatre directing.
