About me
I retired from my position in 2020 as Senior Instructional Designer for Eduworks, a research and development company in learning science. Before that, I was a researcher in a Federal government research lab in learning technology (ADL Co-lab) from 2008 to 2016. While at ADL, I supervised the creation of new learning technologies and advised government and commercial training organizations on implementing them. I created interactive multimedia training courses for the federal government before that, from 1995 to 2008. For 9 of those years, I was also an instructor in Adobe Illustrator in Northern Virginia Community College. A while after I started teaching Illustrator, I decided that my students really needed a basis for understanding the options presented within the Illustrator software. I decided to create the Fundamentals of Computer Graphics course as a prerequisite to my Illustrator course, to teach my students basic computer graphics concepts so that they could be more effective in learning to use Illustrator. I made very substantial updates to the course in May 2025.
