ORBIT has trained over 6000 industrial and academic researchers at 32 different leading research institutions.
ORBIT, the Observatory for Responsible Research and Innovation, is a leading organisation dedicated to promoting ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible innovation. Originally funded by the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), ORBIT has evolved into a not-for-profit company, continuing its mission to support researchers, businesses, and policymakers in embedding Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) into their work.
Since its inception in 2017, ORBIT has worked to ensure that research and innovation align with societal values, ethical considerations, and long-term sustainability goals. Through expert guidance, training, and practical resources, we empower individuals and organisations to navigate complex ethical challenges, engage with diverse stakeholders, and develop solutions that create real-world impact.
At ORBIT, we believe that great innovation isn’t just about progress, it’s about progress done right. By fostering transparency, inclusivity, and accountability, we help shape a future where research and technology benefit everyone.
