About me
I’m an experienced programmer turned computer science educator with a passion for empowering teachers to teach programming confidently. As a former head of department at a private boys' school, I introduced programming to the curriculum and saw firsthand the challenges non-specialist teachers face. This inspired me to launch a business creating high-quality resources to support computer science educators worldwide.
My teaching materials, downloaded over 2 million times, have helped hundreds of thousands of teachers build confidence in teaching Python. My best-selling book, Python by Example: Learning to Program in 150 Challenges, is a trusted resource in classrooms worldwide, offering practical programming experience for teachers and students.
I’ve also worked as an Assessment Manager for Cambridge University Press and Assessment, where I oversaw the creation of iGCSE IT exams, set grade boundaries, and ensured exam quality globally. Currently, I’m the sole reviewer for the Department of Education’s new computing resources, developed in collaboration with Oak National Academy and Raspberry Pi.
In addition, I created JUMP123, an innovative pedagogy and assessment methodology, which is transforming how programming is taught and assessed. My mission is to help teachers save time, reduce stress and deliver impactful programming lessons.
