About me
Neil Bettison is the founder of 3D Tudor, a Blender and game art education studio created in 2019. He is a professional 3D artist, environment artist, instructor, and bestselling Blender author whose work focuses on practical, project-based training for artists who want to build real 3D skills.
Through 3D Tudor, Neil and the team have taught over 250,000 students worldwide across Blender, Unreal Engine 5, Geometry Nodes, 3D modelling, texturing, lighting, environment art, and game-ready workflows. His courses are known for clear structure, practical projects, and direct step-by-step teaching that helps beginners and intermediate artists build confidence without feeling overwhelmed.
Neil is also co-author of a #1 Amazon Best Seller in Rendering & Ray Tracing, published by Packt. His published work and online courses are built around the same goal: helping students move from theory to finished portfolio-ready scenes, assets, and environments.
3D Tudor courses are designed for learners who want more than isolated tips. Many courses take students through full workflows, from planning and modelling to UVs, materials, lighting, rendering, and final presentation. Common themes include medieval and Tudor environments, fantasy buildings, modular game assets, stylized scenes, sci-fi props, Geometry Nodes systems, and Blender-to-Unreal Engine workflows.
Neil’s teaching style is clear, practical, and to the point. His lessons use live on-screen guidance and tooltips to help students follow along more easily, especially when learning Blender shortcuts and workflows. This makes his courses accessible to absolute beginners while still giving intermediate learners useful techniques, production habits, and workflow improvements.
Professional Background
Neil Bettison is a professional 3D artist with years of experience creating props, environments, assets, and game-ready models. His interest in 3D began through gaming, where he started by creating assets for games and workshop communities before developing his skills into a professional 3D art career.
Neil studied BA (Hons) Computer Games Arts at the University for the Creative Arts, where he developed his foundation in game art, modelling, design, and production workflows. After university, he began freelancing and expanded his portfolio through historical assets, environment art, custom 3D work, and educational content.
Since founding 3D Tudor in 2019, Neil has built a large catalogue of Blender and game art training across Udemy, Skillshare, Gumroad, Superhive, YouTube, and other creative platforms. His work is focused on helping students create complete scenes and usable assets rather than simply watching disconnected tutorials.
Neil’s production workflow includes Blender, Unreal Engine 5, Geometry Nodes, Substance Painter, Substance Designer, ZBrush, Maya, Photoshop, and other tools used across 3D modelling, texturing, materials, sculpting, lighting, rendering, and game environment creation. His courses often combine artistic fundamentals with practical software workflows so students can understand not only which buttons to press, but why each step matters.
3D Tudor continues to grow as a full 3D education studio, creating courses, books, tools, materials, asset packs, and resources for Blender and game art students around the world.
