I started learning the piano when I was a kid. I did all the grades, practical and theory, learned all the scales and arpeggios and stuff. When I was a teenager I got into playing the guitar and eventually ended up going to Leeds Music College where I studied piano and guitar for three years. Here, I received a first class Graduate Diploma in Jazz and Light Music and a Licentiate of Trinity College London diploma - the equivalent in standard to the final year recital of an undergraduate degree in classical music.
But one thing that really bugged me all throughout all this time was that no-one seemed to explain why music worked, why we had keys, and scales, and chord progressions. So I decided to find out.
And I did.
Which is why I decided to develop this course - "Why Music Works". I hope you have as much fun learning as I did putting it together.
I've played music all my life and still do. I've played professionally and semi-professionally and also taught piano and guitar.
