I graduated from university with a MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering, and since then have spent a number of years in varying sectors, such as research and development, power generation, maritime, defence, and within those places I’ve been a designer, technical specialist, a project and programme manager, a team lead, and an instructor, suffice to say the list goes on.
Now my interests lie beyond just being a technical body in the sphere I work in, like many of you reading this now, I can say first and foremost, I’m an avid learner. Having spent the better part of 15 years in and around the classroom both as student and teacher, learning new hobbies online, and working for myself (and others) in the big wide world, there’s opportunity to pass on what I know.
I firmly believe that whether you’re a student yourself, a hobbyist, or just have a passing interest in something. Whatever you would like to learn should be structured, comprehensive, interesting, and empower you to walk away knowing more than you did a day ago. I always try to capture those principles in the courses I teach.
Before imparting something, I always first ask myself what the need of the student is, and what I wished has been done better when I was learning it for the first time.
Thanks for your interest, and I hope one of my courses resonates with you.
