Mendi Singh is a passionate and humble educator and performer with over 40 years of experience in the art of tabla. With a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Indian Tabla Music, his journey began at the age of three and has since evolved into a lifelong commitment to preserving and sharing the rich traditions of tabla music.

Mendi has had the privilege of performing on some of the world’s most respected stages, collaborating with legendary artists such as Peter Gabriel (world music producer and performer), Darius Brubeck (jazz pianist), Ananda Shankar (Indian fusion artist), Pandit Shalil Shankar (Indian classical sitarist), Malkit Singh MBE (Bhangra artist), Nitin Sawhney (East and West collaboration artist), and Courtney Pine CBE (British jazz musician), as well as playing alongside native artists from various musical traditions, including Luis Salinas (Argentine jazz guitarist), Wanderson Lopez (Brazilian guitarist), and many more.

His performances have taken him to diverse venues, including Gandhi Stadium (India), Bellas Artes (Mexico City), Barcelona (Spain), the O2 Arena (London), Etihad Stadium (Manchester), Saudi Arabia, and many others. Mendi has also toured extensively across America, Canada, Uruguay and Brazil, bringing his unique sound to a wide range of audiences.

In 2017, he had the honor of joining Take That on their Wonderland Tour, performing for over half a million fans, with one of the shows broadcast live to 600 cinemas worldwide.

Yet, it is in teaching where Mendi finds his true joy. His approach combines deep respect for traditional tabla techniques with a modern, accessible teaching style that has inspired hundreds of students worldwide. Whether beginners or advanced learners, Mendi’s students benefit from his patient, step-by-step guidance, which helps them connect not only with the instrument, but with the cultural and spiritual essence behind it. Many of his students have gone on to perform professionall, compete in prestigious competitions, and even teach others.

His mission is to help students discover their own voice through rhythm, building creativity, confidence, and a deep appreciation for the art form.
