About me
Michael is the author and creator of Quit Your Diet: Think to Shrink—a mindset-first book and course that helps people break free from diet culture using real therapeutic tools.
The program was born out of an NHS project where Michael worked with individuals facing life-threatening obesity. It was there he realised the world treated weight loss differently from every other behaviour issue he’d ever worked with. Where addiction, trauma, and self-sabotage were met with care and solutions, weight was met with restriction, guilt, and blame.
That moment changed everything.
Michael recognised that the very tools he’d used for decades - tools from Solution Focused Brief Therapy, NLP, and Clinical Hypnosis were creating quiet but powerful change in these clients.
Quit Your Diet was his answer to getting those same tools into the hands of everyday people, people who had tried everything and still felt stuck.
With over 40 years in the people business, Michael has helped thousands of individuals and teams create lasting change. He’s trained professionals across social work, youth services, policing, and business, always blending clarity, empathy, and practical tools that work where it matters most: in the real world.
He’s not loyal to any one model. Instead, he’s built a toolkit tested live on the frontline, where behaviour change is complex, urgent, and deeply human.
Michael is also the founder of The Action Factory Training Consultancy (est. 1995), where he develops training rooted in real-world change, not theory. He’s applied his work in mental health, youth justice, weight loss, conflict resolution, and sales, becoming a top-ten national sales leader and growing a £3 million in sales using the same principles he teaches today.
