Martin is a qualified Personal Trainer and Sports Massage Therapist. He runs his own successful business, Active Life Therapy and Fitness and has always been passionate about fitness and well-being.
Martin’s passion for fitness first began at the age of 9, learning about Olympic weightlifting and isometric exercises. This progressed to a keen interest in martial arts and general weightlifting before qualifying as a gym instructor in 1993.
Educating others continued to interest him and in 2005 he qualified as a music teacher, spending the next 10 years working with children in primary and secondary schools. Throughout this time Martin continued to pursue his interest in sport and fitness, particularly in running, mountain biking and swimming.
After an accident left him unable to run, he had start from the beginning again. He combined his knowledge of sports, training and fitness and his skills in teaching and re-trained as a Massage Therapist and Personal Trainer. Experience working with clients in this area has allowed him to gain valuable insights into how and why people get injured as well as how they train. This has formed the very foundation of development of his training programmes, which aim to support people to develop their fitness from different starting points in a sustainable way that minimises the danger of injury.
