Ken Osterkamp was raised in the extreme climate of Fairbanks, Alaska, where daylight ranged from less than four hours to more than twenty-one, and temperatures from 60 below to 90 above. His education ranged from a professional guitarist certificate at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, to a Ph.D. in political science at Claremont Graduate University. At the management consulting firm BiosGroup in Washington, DC, he applied complexity science to solve problems for Fortune 500 and government clients. As a noncommissioned officer in an airborne infantry unit, he completed airborne and mountain warfare schools and received an honorable discharge. An avid outdoor adventurer, Ken founded and published the leading outdoor gear review site Gearflogger for over sixteen years. For over twenty years he has been a nonprofit chief executive, with certifications in Lean Six Sigma, Agile, project management, and data analytics. Ken currently works as a management consultant and interim executive, and resides in Anchorage, Alaska, with his wife and son.
