About me
Namaste,
I’m Vaidya Kanika Kamalkant, and I’ve been practicing Ayurveda for over 13 years.
My journey into Ayurveda began on a deeply personal note. As a child, I was allergic to several commonly prescribed allopathic medications, which led me to explore alternative systems of healing. What began as a necessity soon became a calling—and eventually, my life’s work.
From a very young age, I was able to heal several of my own health challenges through natural medicine. One of the most significant of these was adolescent epilepsy. While I explored many approaches, the only thing that truly helped me achieve lasting relief was meditation.
With consistent practice of Heartfulness meditation, something remarkable began to happen. I learned to sense an episode even before it fully emerged. In those moments, I felt a deep inner clarity and strength—I could consciously choose how to respond.
More than once, I experienced the attack soften, dissolve, and completely melt away when I chose not to engage with it. It was one of the most powerful and divine moments of my life, a lived realization of the mind’s immense influence over the body.
This experience left a lasting imprint on me. I sincerely wish that every person living with epilepsy could know that such inner possibilities exist, and that they, too, may discover their own source of strength and awareness.
I am also deeply grateful to my meditation teacher, who not only guided me inward but also initiated me into the path of Ayurveda. That guidance became the bridge between my inner experiences and my lifelong dedication to healing.
Therefore, I am sure about this thing - lasting healing rarely comes from medication alone. Instead, it emerges from simple yet intentional changes in lifestyle and diet. Permanent healing is only possible when we live in harmony with our individual constitution. My aim has always been to empower people to heal themselves—gently, sustainably, and consciously.
Initially, I started off as a general physician trying to cure common ailments.
But, as my understanding deepened, my focus naturally shifted toward the mind. I came to see that almost all disorders are either created or resolved there.
This approach led me to study modern psychotherapy, with a special emphasis on mindfulness and meditation; and their impact on the body and overall health.
Today, my exclusive and deepest area of work lies in Ayurvedic psychology—a field that continues to leave me spellbound. I have worked extensively on the basics of Ayurvedic psychology, Ayurvedic personality types, and the Ayurvedic ideal social structure based on soul standardization.
This is a dimension of knowledge truly unique to ancient Indian wisdom. While other civilizations have classified the mind and the body, Ayurveda alone offers a clear and sophisticated understanding of the soul and its role in health, behavior, and society. This depth and clarity continue to inspire awe in me every single day.
My core expertise is Satvavajaya Chikitsa, Ayurveda’s approach to mental and emotional well-being. Alongside this, I am actively working toward developing and contributing to the field of Ayurvedic psychotherapy and psychiatry, bridging classical wisdom with contemporary understanding.
Above all, I remain deeply grateful to my teachers. Their guidance, blessings, and compassion have shaped not only my knowledge but my entire way of seeing life. Without them, I would truly be struggling in a sack of darkness. Whatever clarity I carry today exists only by their grace.
I look forward to sharing much more of this timeless wisdom with you, step by step, as I continue to learn, grow, and serve—always under the blessings of my teachers.
