Hello!  I'm John "Perk" Perkinson, and I've been surfing for over 20 years.  I learned to surf the hard way...by just grabbing a board and going out into the ocean with no training or preparation.  This inspired me to give private surf lessons, and help others avoid the struggles and problems I encountered along the way.  I also competed in the Western Surfing Association here in California, and surf almost every day up and down the coast of Southern California.  I joined Udemy as an instructor to help people learn how to catch their first wave, and begin their surf journey.
