John Gotsis is a professional musician, educator, and entrepreneur. John serves as Owner and Music Instructor at Vibe Music Academy, a community of music teachers in the Indianapolis area that offers affordable music lessons that help students grow into musicians. Before transitioning to his full-time position there, he also taught as Adjunct Professor of Music at his alma mater, Indiana Wesleyan University. John currently does studio session work and gigs with various jazz and contemporary musicians, around Indianapolis.
After receiving a bachelor's degree in Music Education from IWU in 2012, John and his wife moved to Lansing, MI where he began teaching and working on his master's degree in Jazz Studies at Michigan State University. During his time in Michigan, John achieved a high level of success academically and professionally, where he earned the position of MSU Jazz Drum Set Graduate Assistant, played and toured with MSU's premier jazz orchestra, and gigged professionally for numerous performance groups. John has studied under and been personally mentored by Rodney Whitaker, Randy Gelispie, Etienne Charles, Diego Rivera, and Marc Wooldridge.
John has a deep love and understanding of music, and he is dedicated to spreading that love by training students to be musicians, and musicians to be teachers.
