I grew up in the hospitality business and, at the age of 13, decided to embrace my family's tradition of baking treats. After several years at my family's business, Pastelaria Batalha, I have now opened my very own pastry shop dedicated to Pastel de Nata in downtown Lisbon: Nat'elier. We specialize in Portuguese custard tarts, offering both traditional flavors and fun, fusion recipes with desserts from around the world (such as tiramisu, crème brûlée, Oreo cheesecake, and apple cinnamon), including vegan options.
I am passionate about teaching pastry enthusiasts how to make traditional Portuguese pastries, particularly the Pastel de Nata, Portugal's most iconic treat. I run a very popular Pastel de Nata Masterclass at my bakery in the heart of Lisbon. We have welcomed over 10,000 people from more than 50 nationalities, all eager to learn how to make Pastel de Nata after falling in love with it while visiting Portugal. I've had the pleasure of baking with a couple of Michelin-starred chefs, as well as with novices who had never even made a cake at home before—every session is unique and always a great deal of fun! I also offer online one-on-one sessions for those passionate about baking who are unable to travel to Lisbon.
I am dedicated to spreading the love for Pastel de Nata worldwide, sharing my recipe with home bakers and professionals alike. I ensure that my instructions are clear and simple, using ingredients and utensils that are easy to find, so that EVERYONE can follow along. Let’s bake together!
